Introduction

Formed in 2021, the Gloucestershire group aims to unite and support clinicians who are concerned about human impacts on the natural world, and who want to practice healthcare in a way that preserves and protects the health of our planet.

Leadership

Chair: Wendy Tyler-Batt

Wendy is a Sustainability lead and clinical pharmacist in Gloucestershire, primarily within a PCN but also working with the ICB. She is a member of Pharmacy Declares! & co-lead for the Greener Primary Care Pharmacy Association (PCPA). She produces Gloucester’s primary care Greener Health and sustainability bulletin and leads sustainability events within her PCN, delivers presentations and podcasts to wider audiences. She uses her Clinical pharmacist role to reduce overprescribing with a focus on health creation exploring opportunities for alternatives to medication. Natural history and the environment are lifelong interests with a degree in botany & zoology; she is a keen botanist, an active recorder of moths, and dabbles in bryology.

How we work

We meet quarterly in face to face and virtual meetings, to discuss practice-based projects and share ideas, and to teach each other about topics relating to sustainable healthcare. We have an active Whatsapp group, and our multidisciplinary membership reflects the breadth of professionals who work in modern day general practice. We hope we are a friendly, welcoming bunch!
