Introduction

The North East Scotland Greener practice is aimed at any primary care healthcare workers in Grampian, Orkney and Shetland who are interested in improving the sustainability of their practice.

Leadership

Co-Chair: Dr. Deepa Shah

Dr Deepa Shah is a GP in Shetland and co-leads the North East Scotland Greener Practice group. She values greener healthcare as an opportunity to transform communities to become healthy, fulfilling and fairer places to live, supporting people to thrive and flourish.   

Deepa chairs the local Area Medical Committee, is a director of Bigton Collective (a social enterprise promoting arts, health and well-being in Shetland) and is chair of Bigton Community Enterprise which runs the local community owned shop. 

Co-Chair: Dr. Adrian Crofton

Dr Adrian Crofton is Lead Clinician at Torry Medical Practice in Aberdeen, Executive Director of River Dee Medical Group and the RCGP Sustainability lead for North East Scotland.

Areas of interest: Primary care child health and primary care public health; primary care advocacy for communities; expanding different models of ownership in primary care; collaborations to improve housing quality and energy sustainability and to maintain local public greenspaces.

How we work

We use a WhatsApp group to communicate and meet every few months on Teams to share ideas and energy on what projects we can take forwards locally.
