Introduction

Greener Practice Tayside and Fife was formed in May 2021 and we are keen to grow our membership. We hope to provide peer support for those working in primary care who are trying to improve the sustainability of their practice. We do so by sharing ideas and resources and by encouraging the use of the Green Impact for Health toolkit. We aim to increase awareness of sustainable healthcare and to work with partner organisations to reduce the health impacts of climate change.

Leadership

Chair: Dr. Alison Mactavish

Alison MacTavish is  a GP partner in a “deep end” practice in Dundee. She originally set up the group but handed over the reins to Ciara Drummond who is having a temporary break for maternity leave. She is passionate about sustainable health care and lifestyle medicine and always up for a new challenge.

How we work

We plan to meet roughly every 2 to 3 months via Teams. You don’t have to have any prior experience or knowledge to join – all interested GPs/nurses/practice managers/pharmacists based in Tayside and Fife are welcome, as are members of the wider primary healthcare team.

What we’ve been up to

We have over 80 members across the region. The majority are Primary Care based but we also have colleagues in Secondary Care, Education and Public Health. Our meetings have largely been online and involved a presentation followed by discussion. We’re also aiming to organise more in-person events to allow people to meet and chat.

You can keep up to date with what we’ve been doing on this document.
